This former textile mill, rich with history, was reborn as a contemporary living space in a thriving community. Our multifamily design team at Charter Furniture Solutions had the opportunity to craft a unique design for a two-bedroom apartment in their community. The result showcases how a furnished model apartment can amplify and accentuate an apartment’s charm and character.

Loray Mill Lofts, Gastonia NC

At NAA 2023, we had the pleasure of connecting with the property owners of Loray Mill Lofts. They were in need of a unique, curated design for a two-bedroom model apartment at their property in North Carolina and after several collaborative sessions, our multifamily design team conceptualized a standout design. Once the custom model furnishings were installed, the property owners expressed their extreme satisfaction with the results.

LIVING ROOM

Our design approach aimed to merge history with modern living. This community has so much character and we wanted a space that feels memorable and distinct. The arched windows let in so much natural light, which, combined with the red brick wall and wooden ceiling beams, exudes warmth and coziness. We handpicked furnishings that accentuated the loft’s inherent industrial touches, like the exposed brick. The expansive ceilings demanded bold, oversized artwork, perfectly placed above the sleek, cushioned sofa. Properly scaled furnishings and art can significantly influence the ambiance of a room.

The living room is spacious, which means families, couples, or even singles can visualize themselves in the space, hosting get-togethers, or simply unwinding after a long day. Every piece of furniture, every decor element speaks of quality and design thoughtfulness.

PRIMARY BEDROOM

The feature wall of abstract artwork above the bed is unique, colorful and highlights not only the height of the room but the gorgeous wood ceiling above. This bedroom will instantly make potential residents feel a sense of belonging, a sense of home. The exposed brick wall is an embodiment of modern urban living. Many property managers might view it as a challenge, but here, it’s a statement. It lends character and a touch of rustic charm to the modern feel.

SECONDARY BEDROOM

The deep blue upholstered bed, paired with light and airy bedding, exudes tranquility. The complementary artwork, with its abstract strokes of beige and brown, enhances the calm atmosphere. The patterned pillows add a dash of playfulness without disturbing the overall feel. The distinct work desk and chair fit beautifully into the room. Overall, balanced color palettes and strategic placements of art pieces give both bedrooms a comfortable and stylish ambiance.
